A demolition In East Jerusalem ICAHD
Tuesday, June 30, 2009
The Jerusalem municipalities' bulldozers arrived this morning (30.6.09) to A-Tur neighborhood in East Jerusalem. The mother of the house's owner attempted to block the entrance to the second floor which the bulldozers came to demolish, and was violently pushed away.
After they finished demolishing 30 square meters of the second floor, the municipality representatives informed the house's owner that he has three days to clear out the remains of the demolition so that they can demolish the remaining 100 square meters of the second floor, he was informed the if he fails to comply he will be fined.
Only seven days ago did the building inspectors even come to take pictures of this new floor and already the bulldozers demolished it with out even giving a demolition order to the owner.
This house demolition comes a day after the announcement of the municipality that it will freeze most of the demolitions in East Jerusalem and work to legalize the illegal building in East Jerusalem out of an understanding that the building laws and refusal to give building permits to Palestinians is really to blame for
