Dear friends,

As I begin to write this letter, ICAHD activists in Jerualem are mobilizing to go to the Mount of Olives and begin rebuilding one of the ssix homes that were demolished this week.

This fast response is made possible by our SMS alert system which reaches hundreds of committed Israelis who often drop what they are doing at a moment's notice to go and resist the demolition of Palestinian homes.

The rebuilding that begins today is part of ICAHD's 'Constructing Peace Campaign' whch plans to rebuild every home that is demolished during the next year. An amazing donor in the USA has provided funds for building materials and to employ Palestinian tradesmen for the project. However the amount we can spent on administrative costs is restricted.

Other activities are supported by the generosity of organizations and individuals around the world, but most of our funding comes in the form of grants from foundations, faith-based groups, and government agencies, all of whom have restrictions on how the funds are spent.

ICAHD has a dedicated staff of six people in Jerusalem. Our office infrastructure is starting to age and some upgrading is necessary in order for all of us here to do our jobs efficiently. Other aspects of our work also fall between the cracks of organizational funding. We have new brochures ready to be published but no funds for the printer. Several computers are nearing the end of their useful life and need replacing. ICAHD still has no vehicle and continues to spend money on hiring buses and taxis for the staff, our tour groups and summer camp activities.
