Draft January 2019 Newsletter

The article below recounts the experiences of one participant on the last study tour...
"An Amazing Experience Which I Am Sure

ICAHD UK's annual conference will take place at Amnesty International's UK Headquarters on Saturday 11 May and will focus on the way forward for the international solidarity movement in promoting the end of Apartheid and democratization in Israel-Palestine. Should solidarity organisations adopt a defined political programme, or concentrate on activism and solidarity? Whose role is it to come up with a creative and just solution for Palestine? And what can be learned from past struggles?

In 2019 ICAHD UK brings together leading activists on justice for Palestine, academics and veterans of the South African anti-Apartheid struggle and other international solidarity movements, to discuss the lessons of the past, the challenges of the present, and the way forward to a just future.

The detailed programme and full list of speakers will be announced shortly. ICAHD founder, Jeff Halper, will speak at the conference as the first port of call on his UK tour, alongside a counterpart from Palestine who will be confirmed shortly. ICAHD UK Director, Daphna Baram will lead and moderate the central panel on Activism and Solidarity, a political Programme, or both? While during the afternoon there will be a special panel dedicated to the participants in our camp, study tours and other events organised by ICAHD UK this year, considering the lessons learned.

Registration for Early bird tickets (offering a £5 discount on the standard rates) is now open. Tickets include participation in all panels, morning coffee/tea, and lunch. Our experience is that tickets are grabbed quickly and we'd hate to disappoint - so please book your tickets ASAP here .

The tour will be launched right after the ICAHD UK Conference on 12 May and will run from 13-22 May.

If you are interested in hosting a talk in your area, can guarantee a venue and attendance, are happy to provide the two speakers with accommodation for one night and deliver them to their next destination - please contact info@icahduk.org to discuss dates and technicalities.

Many of you have heard Jeff before, and know what an engaging, thoughtful and charismatic speaker he is. We are sure you'll be delighted to introduce him to your communities.

Will Help My Campaigning..."

Londoner Mary Holmes visited the Occupied Palestine Territory and Israel for the first time as a participant in the November Study Tour, recommended by ICAHD UK. A caring person who during her career worked as a teacher and then as a nurse, Mary has been involved with India for 25 years but more recently began her involvement in advocating for Palestinians.
