Jeff Halper's April Update Zionist Pacification from Gaza to Iran Photo: Muslim countries that have normalized with Israel In the April update, Jeff Halper describes how the wars on Iran and Lebanon are part of re-fashioning the Middle East in line with Israel’s Zionist agenda. Israel is trying to pacify Iran and Hezbollah, the last strongholds supporting Palestinian resistance against Israel’s settler colonial position. Within that framework, what is happening makes sense because it is part of Israel’s normalization process as it transforms Arab Palestine into the Jewish state of Greater Israel. Jeff shows several maps to illustrate this process and how so many Muslim states have normalized their relationship with Israel and embraced the Abraham Accords. Mike Huckebee, the US’s Ambassador to Israel, remarked in February that it would be fine if Israel took control of land that would include a huge swathe of the Middle East. Such positions come from an interpretation of Bible verses identified as Christian Zionism. This theological and political belief system says that the modern State of Israel’s existence is a fulfilment of biblical prophecy and a necessary sign to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. It combines strong support for Israel, particularly regarding control over Jerusalem and the West Bank, with an end-times world view. During this hour-long webinar, Stephen Sizer will provide a summary about Christian Zionist beliefs. He will be followed by Michael Spath who will unpack how Christian Zionist theology has influenced US foreign policy and how US churches are responding to it ICAHD condemns with outrage, if not surprise, the Israeli parliament’s passing of the Death Penalty for Terrorists Bill on March 30. Drafted by Internal Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, himself a convicted terrorist, it was supported by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, his entire Likud party and 70% of Israeli Jewish public. This racist law mandates the death penalty – specifically by hanging – for a “terrorist” defined in terms that could only apply, in our context, to a Palestinian. The number of Palestinians displaced in the context of settler violence and access restrictions has already reached 1,697, surpassing the whole of 2025 and with over two-thirds of them taking place in the Jordan Valley. During March, there was more activity in Silwan, home to 50,000 residents in East Jerusalem. For years, the Jerusalem Municipality and the Israeli Ministry of the Interior, in league with settler associations such as El Ad and Ateret Cohanim, have pursued plans to bury the network of Palestinian neighborhoods in Silwan under the City of David and Kings Garden National Parks. In the past few months, the municipality has demolished about 35 homes in the al-Bustan neighborhood of Silwan, and dozens more families have been issued demolition orders, which the municipality will carry out when Passover, the Festival of Freedom, ends on April 8. Continue to raise this issue with your political representatives. We cannot let the ethnic cleansing of Palestine get lost in the fog of war. Note these dates and consider joining! The UK Government must act urgently to urge the Israeli Government to stop the proposed law which would permit the execution of Palestinian Prisoners, past, present and future.
