An Invitation to Bethlehem Unwrapped
St James’s Piccadilly, London. December 23^rd 2013 – January 5^th 2014 Dear friend of ICAHD UK, We are very excited to invite you to a special festival of events happening in London Piccadilly throughout the Christmas fortnight, dedicated to Bethlehem, and showcasing peaceful resistance.
Through music, food, art, poetry, debate and more Bethlehem Unwrapped goes behind the romanticised Christmas card images of the ancient city to show what life is like for people in Bethlehem today. The festival celebrates the culture and stories of those living behind the wall and their work for peace. Hope, humour and humanity are reflected throughout the programme, which brings together renowned musician and composer Nigel Kennedy, chefs Yotam Ottolenghi & Sami Tamimi, singer Reem Kelani, comedians Mark Steel and Jeremy Hardy, activist and speaker Jeff Halper (of ICAHD Jerusalem), film-maker Leila Sansour, video artist Larissa Sansour, and the activist film company Tipping Point, writer and speaker Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, slam poets Harry Baker and Rafeef Ziadah and more. Plus there will be a major interactive art installation which will be unveiled on the opening evening of Monday 23^rd December.
