Find out why the mantra calling for a “two-state solution” in Palestine/Israel is destructive as it will only perpetuate Israel’s apartheid policies over the Palestinian people

Jeff begins his UK visit by participating in the Greenbelt festival, followed by public meetings in Manchester, Glasgow, Dundee, Edinburgh, Hebden Bridge, Leeds, and London. See the Diary section below for dates and venues.
Known for the clarity Jeff brings to issues on the ground in Palestine/Israel as well as politically, he comes to us this time with a message and a program. The message: it’s time to turn our protests into political action. The program: Let’s get behind the Palestinian-led One Democratic State Campaign and start campaigning for their 10-point program of decolonizing Zionism and establishing a democratic state for everyone between the River and the Sea, including the returning refugees.
Highlighted is the new brochure which is A3 that folds into four panels on each side. It explains the apartheid reality that Israel has created on the ground and includes quotes that endorse this position. It then states that resistance, activism and protest alone will not end Israeli apartheid, and that ending Israeli apartheid by itself will not dismantle Zionist settler colonialism or restore to the Palestinians their national rights in their historic homeland. Only a clear political program can do that. ICAHD’s position is the call for an inclusive pluralistic democracy.
“These tours through their many and varied visits and opportunities to meet activists, provides an excellent opportunity for both beginners and more seasoned campaigners to extend their knowledge and understanding of the issues and priorities for campaigning back home.”
(A Mitchell, Mar 2017)
On 18^th August, Israel’s army raided and sealed the doorways of seven Palestinian human rights NGOs, six of which it had criminalisedlast October. Extensive damage was done and documents confiscated. Attacking these organisations creates a real risk for their staff members and for the wider Palestinian community they serve. Israel attacked the NGOs shortly after ten European governments had dismissed Israel’s allegations of them as terrorist organisations because they could not be substantiated. Sample letters have been prepared for contacting your MP. Here is the link to the draft prepared by the Balfour Project
Also in August, Israeli settlers, with cooperation from the Israeli army, closed off At-Tuwani in the South Hebron Hills and forced Palestinian residents at gunpoint to remain in their homes so that the settlers could invade their village to pray. Such acts terrorise Palestinians and this is to say nothing of the demolitions and displacements that happen virtually on a daily basis and the additional Palestinians from the West Bank who have been killed in August. Despite all of the above, the international community has failed to hold Israel to account. With no consequences for Israel, it will continue to act with impunity. A political just and sustainable solution can be the only resolution.

Final call for last remaining places

The final places are now being confirmed for the two opportunities that are offered for this autumn that allow internationals to connect with ICAHD on the ground. These highly recommended tours, developed over many years, offer exceptional itineraries that provide the opportunity to engage with both Palestinians and critical Israelis.
Demonstrate your solidarity with the Palestinians and the Israelis who are working for peace with justice. For many these have also proved to be a life-changing experience! See the website for more information

August developments - act now! So far in August alone Israel has committed two major offences. Between 5 – 7 August, it conducted air strikes into Gaza, which according to the UN’s Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory were an illegal and immoral act of aggression with its use of force not justified by international law. However major governments defended Israel’s right to defend itself without referring to the Occupation or Gaza being under siege, Israel’s strength with sophisticated weapons and the need for Israel to bring itself into line with international law. As a result of the bombardment, 49 Palestinians were killed including 17 children with homes, buildings and infrastructure destroyed.
