Stop Israel’s normalisation of apartheid – annual appeal

At this critical juncture, your solidarity and support for the strategic role ICAHD UK plays has never been more vital. While others contribute to humanitarian aid, pursue Israeli violations of international law or engage in lobbying, protest and campaigning, ICAHD UK, in tandem with ICAHD in Palestine/Israel, focuses on political resistance to Israeli apartheid.

ICAHD UK brings two solidarity delegations a year to Palestine. No amount of reading, attending lectures or watching films can convey a genuine understanding of the facts on the ground compared to being there. Over 11 days participants travel through the West Bank, including the Jordan Valley, go north into the Galilee, south into the Negev and along the Mediterranean coastline in Israel. We spend time in Palestinian communities and interact with local residents as well as Palestinian and Israeli political leaders and activists. Our unique tours demonstrate vital support for endangered Palestinian communities as well as investing in the local economy.

As an Israeli-based yet anti-Zionist organisation in Palestine/Israel and deeply engaged in events in the Occupied Territory, ICAHD brings a uniquely authoritative understanding of where Israel is going politically and what is the most effective strategy for Palestinian liberation. This is reflected in the wealth of analyses and materials we produce, from maps, films, presentations, conferences, webinars and speaking tours to reports, articles and books, for all of which ICAHD is so well known. Our film, Rooted in the West Bank, about our support for Palestinian farmers struggling to preserve their livelihoods even as the Israeli government dries up their fields and the settlers of Kiryat Araba attempt to drive them out, is screened regularly on Al-Jazeera.

Jeff testified before the Gaza Tribunal convened in London by Jeremy Corbyn. He was also invited to be a member of the International Gaza Tribunal convened by Richard Falk and other prominent international lawyers, participating in its planning in London and in its two public hearings in Sarajevo and Istanbul, where Linda joined him.

This is why ICAHD UK needs your support to fund the work of ICAHD on the ground, augmenting our outreach through a new website, an improved social media presence, hosting conferences and speaking tours, and producing additional resources reflecting ICAHD’s positions, as well as modest staff and office expenses.

Please stand with us as we continue our vital political work at this time of monumental consequence. Please donate to ICAHD UK today or increase your existing support.

Thank you for your solidarity. Together, we must challenge the normalisation of two-state apartheid and build a shared democracy in historic Palestine.

With hope and determination, Linda Ramsden Jeff Halper Director, ICAHD UK Director, ICAHD

Stop Israel’s Normalisation of Apartheid in Palestine ICAHD UK Annual Appeal Dear friend, We write to you at a time of unprecedented urgency. The Palestinian people face their greatest threat since the Nakba. Suffering, death, displacement and social disintegration still terrorise the population of Gaza. More than 70,000 refugees have been driven from their homes in the northern West Bank as the Israeli military crushes all resistance, while dozens of farming communities, shepherd villages and towns are being attacked by violent settlers, protected by the army and police, in order to drive them off their lands. From another direction, the impending Abraham Accords threaten to normalise Israel, its settlements and its permanent control of the West Bank, trapping Palestinians forever in tiny, non-viable enclaves – a “two-state” apartheid.

ICAHD’s First Mission – Active Resistance “On the Ground”

Working in tandem with ICAHD, ICAHD UK directly supports sumud, the Palestinian struggle to remain steadfast on their land and in their homes. As demolitions and violent expulsions reach record numbers, we have launched the Sumud Project. Twinning the most vulnerable Palestinian communities with cities and towns abroad, we work with our Palestinian partners to break their isolation, connect them to international support and address their most vital needs, as well as exposing the political oppression threatening their collective and individual lives. At the same time, we sponsor the rebuilding of Palestinian homes, agricultural structures crucial for local livelihood and other needed facilities such as a community centre in the Jordan Valley. Indeed, over the past three decades ICAHD has conducted thirteen international work camps and has rebuilt 190 homes – homes rebuilt with Palestinian families as joint non-violent acts of political resistance.

ICAHD’s Second Mission – Operational Analysis

Providing critical analysis lies at the heart of ICAHD’s contribution to the political struggle. Through the ICAHD UK website, our annual conference, webinars and speaking tours featuring Palestinians and Israelis, we seek to amplify critical, anti-colonial voices, including that of Jeff Halper, ICAHD’s Director in Jerusalem. As a Big Picture organisation, we focus public attention on often overlooked processes and developments affecting the Palestinian struggle, “normalisation” being the most urgent at this moment.

ICAHD’s Third Mission – Political Change

Not least, ICAHD is a political direct-action organisation. That means we initiate and engage in political activities that most effectively advance the struggle for a just political resolution, which in our view means decolonising Palestine and ushering in an inclusive post-colonial reality, a single democracy over all historic Palestine, including the return of the refugees. Towards that end, ICAHD has played a leading role in founding the Palestinian-led One Democratic State Campaign and, for the first time, formulating a detailed one-state political program.

Why ICAHD UK Needs Your Support

ICAHD UK is committed to political struggle in the cause of Palestinian liberation and the forging of a just and inclusive post-colonial reality. Towards that end we engage in the wide range of strategic activities developing political programmes and strategies, that resists apartheid and promotes a shared democracy in historic Palestine.
